James Murray is intending to run 100 miles round Grand Cayman on November 26th 2011 with the aim of raising at least $25,000 for the Cayman Islands Diabetes Association.
Secondly, and more importantly James would say, is to inspire the people of both Cayman and beyond to participate in their own Crazy Idea, either for personal gain or in order to raise money for a good cause.
James will be accompanied on his run by Lisa Smith Batchen, James's coach and running mentor. Lisa is one of the world’s leading ultrarunners and the ONLY American to win the Marathon des Sables, two time winner of the Badwater Ultramarathon (a 135 mile running race through Death Valley) and is the only person to have run 50 miles in all 50 states of the USA in 62 days.
...Sooo... What actually is A Crazy Idea?
A crazy idea is any thought or intention that if pursued will take an individual outside their comfort zone to achieve personal growth and further their well being.
A crazy idea is not the pursuit of an illegal, malicious or harmful ideal which is detrimental to the individual or society, in fact it’s quite the opposite and can be used, as I intend to use my crazy idea, to benefit the community in which we live.
...Behind James's Crazy Idea
This lofty athletic endeavour is inspired by Christopher McDougall’s Born to Run. Shortly after reading the book, James set out to achieve this goal. For the past 14 months James has committed a great deal of time to what most have deemed “A crazy idea”. The pursuit of which has taken him on quite an adventure.
...What Does This Have To Do With You?
In short – Everything!
We hope that James's Crazy Idea and dedication will inspire individuals of all ages and lifestyles to get active, to dwell outside their comfort zones (even if for only a few minutes) and to get involved. |
